Aari Hand Embroidery
Aari embroidery work in T. Nagar, Chennai
Zardosi, stones, beads and thread work embroidered hook by hook on a traditional aari frame — dense bridal grandwork or a fine trail of motifs, drawn for your fabric.

What we make
Every hook of the needle, by hand
Aari work is embroidery done with a fine hook on fabric stretched over a frame. Motifs are drawn onto the fabric first, then worked in thread, zardosi, stones, beads and sequins.
Bridal grandwork
Dense, heavily worked designs for the muhurtham blouse or bridal outfit.
Fine motifs
A lighter trail of motifs along sleeves, necklines or borders.
Materials
Zardosi, stones, beads, sequins and silk thread, chosen with your fabric in hand.
On blouses & bridal wear
Embroidery planned together with the stitching of your blouse or bridal outfit.

See the materials in person
Embroidery is easier to decide on in person. The shine of zardosi, the weight of stonework and how a colour of thread sits against your fabric are hard to judge on a phone screen.
At the consultation in T. Nagar the design is discussed with your fabric in hand, so the density of the work and the materials can be chosen together before anything is drawn.

Questions
Before you visit
Can you do aari work on fabric I already have?
Yes. Motifs are drawn for your fabric, so bring the fabric or garment with you to the consultation.
What is the difference between grandwork and simple aari work?
Grandwork covers more of the garment with denser stitching and heavier materials such as stones and zardosi. Simpler work uses a lighter trail of motifs. Denser work takes longer to embroider, which affects both timing and price.
Can I choose the design?
Yes. The design is discussed with you at the consultation and agreed before work begins.
How long does aari embroidery take?
It depends on the size and density of the design and on how busy the boutique is around your date. Tell us your date when you enquire and we will let you know what is realistic.
